德州共和黨籍的韩裔金莎莉Sery Kim在4月2日在竞选国会议员的候选人论坛中发表针对华人移民社区的言论：“我根本不希望他們在這裡。 他們竊取了我們的知識產權，給了我們冠狀病毒，他們不追究自己的責任，坦率地說，我可以這麼說是因為我是韓國人。”她参加今年5月1日举行的德州第六選區眾議員特別選舉。
美國華裔民權聯盟强烈谴责金莎莉针对华裔移民的诽谤污蔑，煽动歧视言论。如此言论暴露了她的無知及其丑惡面目，我们号召所有选民在5月1日的特别选举中不要投票给她！
首先，金莎莉根本没有资格說不想華人移民美国，因为美国从来就是一个移民国家。中國移民美國歷史悠久，從修建鐵路到參與世界大戰保家衛國，美國華人都是貢獻良多，也巳存入國會檔案，成為美国歷史的一部份。
其次，眾所週知，韓國吸取了许许多多的中華文化传统風俗，例如同樣慶祝農歷新年。其他族裔在日常生活中经常分不清来自东亚的华裔, 韩裔和日裔，因此生活在美國中韓日移民，经常面临同样的仇视和歧视，因此金莎莉的言论非常愚蠢。
第三，金莎莉污蔑华人移民将新冠病毒带入美国，这是没有事实根据的诽谤。WHO和CDC都一再指出，新冠病毒是野生动物传染到人体，然后在人群中传播，与族裔无关。
最后，如此族裔歧视言论，无论其族裔背景，都是绝对错误的，特別在目前亞裔遭受日益嚴重的歧視及仇恨犯罪期間，我們表示堅決反對她煽風點火的言論。
鉴于以上原因，美國華裔民權聯盟向德州共和黨眾議員候選人金莎莉提出強烈抗议，要求她向在美华人社区作出道歉，退出今年的國會衆議員特別選舉，因為國會不應該有反移民的眾議員！我们号召德州的選民，拒绝这样一個传播谣言，煽動歧视仇恨的候选人！我们也呼吁所有在美华人团体和同胞向金莎莉表达抗议。金莎莉Sery Kim的电邮：scry@scrykim.com 手机：703-231-9678。

Condemning Sery Kim’s Racist Rhetoric Against Chinese Americans

Sery Kim, a Texas Republican of Korean descent, made remarks on April 2 against the Chinese Americans community at a candidate forum: “I don’t want them here at all. They stole our intellectual property, they gave us the coronavirus, they don’t hold themselves accountable, and frankly, I can say that because I’m Korean.” She is running in the special election for the Texas 6th Congressional District on May 1 of this year.
The Chinese Americans Civil Rights Coalition strongly condemns such slanderous slurs and discriminatory remarks against Chinese Americans for the following reasons.
First, Kim has no place to say that she does not want Chinese immigrants in America because the United States has always been a country of immigrants. Chinese immigrants in America have a long history. From building transcontinental railroads to defending America in the two world wars, Chinese Americans have made many outstanding contributions to America, all of which have been well-documented in the Library of Congress as part of American history.
Secondly, as we all know, Korea has absorbed many Chinese cultural traditions and customs, such as celebration of the Lunar/Chinese New Year. Other ethnic groups often cannot distinguish between Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese in the public, these three groups of immigrants from East Asia often face the same hatred and discrimination. Therefore, Kim’s rhetoric is not only ignorant but also self-destructive.
Third, Kim’s slander that Chinese immigrants brought the new coronavirus into the U.S. is unsubstantiated. Both the WHO and the CDC have repeatedly stated that the Covid-19 virus is most likely transmitted from wild animals to humans, and then spread among the population regardless of race and ethnicity.
Finally, Kim’s racially charged statements are simply wrong, no matter who says them, especially in these days of increasing discrimination and hate crimes against Asian-Americans.
The Chinese Americans Civil Rights Coalition strongly condemns Kim’s racial rhetoric, demands her apology to the Chinese American community. Kim should withdraw from the special congressional election because her racist rhetoric has no place in Congress! We call on all voters to reject a candidate who incites racial division and hatred.
